I was lucky enough to find myself in Mallorca for a week this summer because my friend Taj decided to rent a flat in Palma for a whole month. After attending my friend’s 40th birthday extravaganza in Portugal, I hopped on a short flight to the largest Balearic island.
Now that I’ve been to every Balearic island, I can say with certainty that Mallorca was not my favorite, but I totally understand why people love it. There’s definitely less emphasis on partying (compared to Ibiza), but there’s still a lot going on and a robust nightlife in the city center. The beaches were stunning, and I had some memorable meals.
The biggest surprise was how big the island felt—we spent a lot of time in the car, driving through windy mountains to get from Palma to the coastal towns. I was also surprised that the island seemed filled with Brits and Germans. It felt like there were no Spanish people there aside from service workers, and I don’t get that feeling in Ibiza.
Nevertheless, I would absolutely go back, and here’s my idea of a perfect day in Mallorca.
Morning: I get up early, take a long walk and meditate by the water, then head to Magí for breakfast. Once I get all my morning self-care in, I'd pick up snacks and everything I need for my favorite swimming spot.
